Arsenal are reportedly plotting a £13million move for Zenit Saint Petersburg centre back Ezequiel Garay in order to bolster their defence this summer, according to the Telegraph.
The Argentine international who joined Zenit from Benfica last summer, could be tempted to a move the Premier League giants in order to cement his place in the national team.
The 28-year-old defender has often been linked with a move to the couple of Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Tottenham have been long-term admirers of the former Real Madrid defender.
However, Garay enjoyed a successful debut season with the Russian club last season, making 26 league appearances and helping the club to lift the Russian Premier League title.
Meanwhile, the Gunners have already looked to improve his defence for next season and are close to completing a deal for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Garay would cost around £13million and would compete with Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista for a central defensive place should he join the north Londoners.
