Arsenal Eye Marseille Goalkeeper

According to recent reports in talkSPORT, Arsenal are plotting a summer move to sign Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda for Szczesny replacement.

The Frenchman has been regular in Jose Anigo’s first team since 2007 and considered as one of Ligue 1’s finest shot-stopper for some time. In addition, Mandanda has been named twice as Ligue 1’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to lure the services of 28-year-old goalkeeper as a good replacement for Wojciech Szczesny.

Although, Szczesny has been first-choice goalkeeper for Arsene Wenger’s since last three seasons but due to some doubts over his maturity, Wenger is desperate for a more experienced glovesman and Mandanda seems to be the ideal option at Anfield.

It has been understood that, Marseille value their man at around £8m and Gunners are probably likely to have this deal as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

Spanish club Atletico Madrid are also keen on Mandanda, whose current No.1. Thibaut Courtois will move to Chelsea this summer.
