Brazilian Douglas Costa wants to leave Shakhtar Donetsk

Shakhtar midfielder Douglas Costa is reportedly interested in a move to Premier League club Arsenal, reports The Express.

The 23-year-old wanted a move away from the Ukrainian side due to the ongoing unrest within the country.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be a long-term admirer of the former Brazil Under-20 international, so they may make a move – but Italian giants AC Milan are also keen on the attacking midfielder this summer.

The highly-rated star, who has a £40million release clause in his contract, insisted he is ‘ready’ to leave the Shakhtar Donetsk, if the right offer comes his way for paying either in England or Italy.

“If an offer came, I would take it immediately,” said Costa as quoted in the Express. “I think I am ready for a big club.”

“Moreover, playing in a league like Serie A or the Premier League, I would have more chances of being called up to the Brazil national team.”

Costa joined Shakhtar from Brazilian outfit Gremio in 2010, has scored 33 goals in 170 appearances for the club over the last five years.
