Champions league, who’s in the running?

The UEFA Champions’ League is the greatest club competition in world football, and this year’s knockout stages look set to be highly competitive and entertaining. With some of the greatest club sides in Europe remaining in the competition, picking a winner could be a hard task. Last year’s finalists Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund remain in the competition, with some of Europe’s leading clubs, such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United also still remaining.

The key to winning the Champions’ League is not only having a quality starting eleven filled with world-class players, but also having the depth in your squad to deal with the busy schedule the competition brings. With sixteen teams still in the competition, they will all be hoping they will be in Lisbon for the final on 24th May 2014.

Who Can Win The Competition?

Bayern Munich: The Bavarians are the favourites to go the distance. With a squad packed with talent, a highly successful coach in Pep Guardiola, and the experience of winning last year’s tournament, there is no wonder the Germans are so heavily favoured this year.

Real Madrid: The famous Spanish side have won nine Champions’ League trophies over the years, the most of any club. With a great team full of star players including Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid can beat any other team on their day.

Barcelona: The Catalan giants are coming off one of the most successful club eras of all time. They still possess a team full of quality, including Lionel Messi and Neymar, and it would be a huge task for any team to knock them out.

Manchester City: Featuring a highly talented team, City have a better chance now than ever to win their first Champions’ League trophy. They will first have to overcome a tough knockout stage draw against Barcelona if they are to go on and win.

Paris St Germain: The only French club left in the competition, PSG will rely on star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to fire them through the Champions’ League knockout stages. The Persians may be able to win the competition if they can carry on their league form.

With other teams available, we may see a surprise package hit some form and shock everyone.
