Liverpool’s Fabio Borini closes in on Fiorentina move

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Italian club ACF Fiorentina over the potential transfer of Fabio Borini, according to Sky Sports.

It is believed, the 24-year-old would make a permanent move to Serie A outfit, who were in England for a friendly with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian striker has struggled to make an impact for the Merseyside club since joining the Reds from Parma in 2012, scoring only two goals in eight Premier League starts.

He had a loan spell at Sunderland in 2013-14 season, scoring three times in their run to the Capital One Cup final – but has opted not to join them on a permanent basis and instead returned to Anfield.

Liverpool have already four strikers, Christian Benteke, Danny Ings, Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge as the Merseyside club are keen to offload Borini, who was Rodgers’ first recruit in 2012.
