Liverpool keen on Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly interested in Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of the Premier League 2014-15 season, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Anfield club view Benzema as a potential replacement of Luis Suarez, who left the club for Spanish giants Barcelona.

However it is understood, Los Blancos are unlikely to want to sell the Frenchman, especially after the exit of Alvaro Morata to the Italian champions Juventus. Even the La Liga giants are believed to be offering Benzema a new bumper deal at the Bernabeu.

The report claims, the 26-year-old striker would cost somewhere in the region of £40 million with a possible £200,000-a-week in wages.

Liverpool have already made 4 signings so far this summer, bringing in Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, and Lazar Markovic and are on the brink of completing a deal for QPR’s Loic Remy.

Benzema made five appearances during the summer’s World Cup in Brazil, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
