Manchester United are reportedly plotting a £28 million offer for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman as their number one summer target, according to Daily Star.
The Dutch international joined Italian club Roma in a £16m move from PSV Eindhoven last summer, scoring five goals and six assists in his 25 Serie A appearances last term, is currently struggling with a knee injury he picked up back in March.
It is understood that the new United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the Premier League next season, with midfield as a priority and the 24-year-old can be seen as a potential target for the Red Devils this summer.
However a deal seem to be an impossible as Roma have already confirmed earlier this summer that Strootman was not for sale at any cost. But reports now suggested that the Lupi might be willing to accept a bid somewhere in the region of £28m.
