Manchester United Planning to Sign Sporting Lisbon Midfielder

Premier League champions, Manchester United are reportedly planning a January move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

It has been reported that Manchester United have sent their scouts to Portugal this week to watch the midfielder in action during Sporting Lisbon defeat Pacos De Ferreira 4-0. The report says, other premier league clubs Queens Park Rangers and Arsenal were also reported in Portugal for the highly-rated youngster.

Sporting Lisbon manager Leonardo Jardim has included Carvalho in the first eleven squad since from the beginning, since then 21-year-old midfielder has played quite well with his stand out performance during this campaign. Therefore, The Red Devils are highly impressed with his performance and planning for a January move, report claims.

This is the second time that Manchester United sent their scouts to watch the defensive midfielder in action, the first time United sent their scouts when the player went on loan to Cercle Brugge in Belgium.

Carvalho’s current contract with Sporting Lisbon is running until 2018. Manchester United hopefully made the termination fee as they already knew that Sportinguistas are heavily in debt and willing to sell him in January transfer window.

William Carvalho was born in Luanda, Angola in 1992, then he moved to Portugal as an infant where he joined as a youth career in Sporting Clube de Portugal at the age of 13. On 13-April-2011, he played his his first team debut as a defensive midfielder.
