Man United Target Benfica Ezequiel Garay Raid

The current Premier League champions Manchester United are ready to launch a summer bid for Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay, reported in The Daily Mirror.

The Argentina international was heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils last summer, but due to busy schedule a move failed to materialise.

It is understood, United boss Moyes is keen to bring some fresh defensive and midfield additions to their squad, which will be his priority in this summer transfer window, as the future of their current defence line are in doubt.

With Nemanja Vidic is set to join Inter Milan at the end of the season, and Evra is also in talks over Inter Milan transfer. whereas, Rio Ferdinand may retire at the end of the season, once his contract expires at the Old Trafford.

Although, Garay has a £17m release clause with one more year left on his contract and the Lisbon based club Benfica are likely to extend the 27-year-old’s contract at the end of the season, but the report suggests that the central defender is ready to leave the Portuguese giants in the summer.

The former Real Madrid defender is thought to be the ideal replacement of captain Nemanja Vidic, who is set to Join Serie A side Inter Milan this summer.
