REVEALED: Man United launched huge £139m bid for Neymar

Manchester United made a whopping £139m bid to sign Barcelona superstar Neymar in the summer, according to Spanish publication Sport quoted by The Telegraph.

The Premier League giants were heavily linked with the Brazilian sensation in the closing weeks of the summer transfer window, but a deal was never materialised.

The paper claims that the Red Devils tabled an incredible offer and told Neymar that he would be paid £280,000-a-week if he agree to move to Old Trafford.

However, Barcelona rejected the bid as the player already made it clear he wanted to stay at the Camp Nou. Although his father revealed earlier this week that his son doesn’t want to leave the Catalans.

“United phoned Barcelona and got the answer that Neymar has a contract and is not for sale,” Neymar Snr told the newspaper.

“Everyone is calm. Neymar still has three years on his deal. We are happy. Neymar chose to play here and he is super happy in Barcelona – you can see that.”

Neymar joined Barcelona from Santos in 2013.
