Tottenham Hotspur are ready to launch a shocking bid for Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata this summer, as they look to re-build their squad for next season, reports from Spain quoted by the Metro.
The future of the 26 year old looks uncertain at the Old Trafford due to dropping in and out of the playing 11 under their newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal this season.
However, Mata has shown some of his qualities in recent weeks after he scores both goals in United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool, even though – the Spaniard was voted player of the month for March by club’s supporters.
The report claims that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is confident of doing business with the Red Devils this summer and will launch a £18.3 million bid for the midfielder.
Mata has scored 14 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions since he joined the club from Chelsea in 2014. His current contract is running until the summer of 2018.
