Newcastle are reported to offered a new four-year deal to defender Paul Dummett at St James’ Park.
The 22-year-old, who spent the last season on loan at St Mirren and he may join the Toon Army on a permanent basis.
The Manager Alan Pardew is now looking to offered a long-term contract to the left-back following his terrific performance against Liverpool on saturday at St. James’ Park.
Pardew insists that he has a bright future at the club.
“He was never going to St Mirren permanently, never, It was never in our plans. We always had good reports back.”
“We are not particularly well covered at left-back but Paul offered that pre-season and Davide (Santon) knew he was under massive pressure. He was pushing him hard.
“He gained his reward today (Saturday) and I have no qualms about putting him in. I have thought about sticking him in midfield as well, where I think he can be a bit of a destroyer in certain games. There are a number of roles he can play.”
