CONFIRMED: Tom Cleverley joins Everton from Man United

Everton have announced the signing of Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, whose contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of this month.

The Toffees have secured the services of the 25-year-old on a free transfer on a five-year deal, who spent his last season on loan with Aston Villa under Tim Sherwood, where Cleverley scored three goals in 37 appearances and helped the Villans to guide them to FA Cup final.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that the England international is a “perfect fit” for his first-team squad at Goodison Park.

The 41-year-old Spaniard told the club’s official website: “We are extremely delighted to be welcoming Tom to Everton and I can think of many reasons as to why our fans will enjoy Tom representing our football club.

“The most important one is that he is a perfect fit for what we are trying to build here as he has so much experience of playing in the Premier League and he still has his best years just ahead of him.

“Having worked with him previously, I know the type of character he is and I know that, with the Everton fans’ support, we will get a very special footballer joining our already exciting team.”

Cleverley become the Everton’s first signing of this summer when he will officially join the club on 1st July once his contract has expired at Old Trafford.
