Leicester City keen on Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Leicester City are exploring the possibility of signing Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek during the winter transfer window.

Simon Phillips reports that the Foxes are in negotiations to sign the England international, who has played a significant role for the Blues this season.

Despite being seen as one of Chelsea’s top academy products, the 26-year-old’s versatility has mostly seen him used as a rotation player until this season.

With the midfielder’s contract running out in 2024, this could be a prime opportunity to sell him at a favourable price. Leicester are dangerously close to the relegation zone, and manager Brendan Rodgers is facing significant pressure to improve their performance at the King Power Stadium.

In the past, Chelsea had attempted to include Loftus-Cheek as a makeweight in the deal for Wesley Fofana, but the player decided to stay and fight for a place in the first team.

Loftus-Cheek might be looking for more playing time and may reassess his career path, as a transfer to Leicester could be a good opportunity for him.
