Everton Eye Lutsharel Geertruida in Busy Summer Transfer Race

Everton have joined the race to sign RB Leipzig right-back Lutsharel Geertruida, according to reports from transfer insider Ekrem Konur — and it’s easy to see why the Toffees are interested.

From Feyenoord to the Premier League Spotlight

The 25-year-old Dutchman built his reputation at Feyenoord, racking up 202 appearances, 24 goals and 11 assists before earning his move to the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. His time in Germany was brief — just 35 appearances — before heading to Sunderland on loan last summer.

And he’s been nothing short of a revelation under Régis Le Bris, with his consistent defensive displays turning heads across the top flight.

Why Everton Need Him

With Seamus Coleman set to leave when his contract expires and Nathan Patterson managing just 240 minutes of Premier League football this season, David Moyes is desperately short of a natural right-back option.

The Scot has had to deploy Jake O’Brien out of position, and while the Irish centre-back has done admirably, it’s far from ideal. Geertruida would solve that problem immediately — freeing O’Brien to return to his natural role.

Stiff Competition Ahead

It won’t be straightforward, though. Everton face serious competition from Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leeds United, plus clubs from Italy, Spain and Germany.

Sunderland have opted against triggering their £19m buy option, opening the door for rivals to pounce this summer.

Geertruida ticks every box Everton need — experience, quality and Premier League-readiness. Moyes must move fast.
