Arsenal eye Manchester United target Mats Hummels

Arsenal will challenge the Red Devils for the services of the Germany international.

Arsenal have reportedly ready to make a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, who has also interested Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is looking for another centre-back this summer following the future of Thomas Vermaelen is in doubts, who is set to leave the Emirates later this summer.

The 25-year-old center-back joined Dortmund in 2009 from Bayern Munich, his childhood club. He has made 36 appearances for his country and delivered some wonderful performances at 2014 FIFA world cup in Brazil and helps Germany to lift the World Cup.

However Borussia Dortmund have already stated this summer that Hummels is not for sale, but it is understood a bid of around £30m could be enough to persuade to cash in.

Arsenal have already done summer’s transfer business by signing Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina, and Calum Chambers.
