Chelsea Face Bayern Munich Battle for AS Roma Midfielder Manu Kone
Blues Set for Winter Window Contest
Chelsea are set to face stiff competition from Bayern Munich in the race to sign AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone. According to AS Roma Live, the Bundesliga champions have earmarked the 25-year-old as a possible midfield addition after opting against a direct Leon Goretzka replacement in the summer.

The Blues made a late approach on deadline day, and their interest is expected to resurface in January.
Why Kone Appeals to Chelsea
Following Enzo Fernandez’s exit on deadline day, Chelsea need extra depth in the centre of the park. Kone offers a different profile, but his ball-carrying, physicality and ability to break lines could suit Xabi Alonso’s system. He also operates in several midfield roles, adding tactical flexibility.
Kone is currently out with a muscle injury, though he could return in late October or early November.
Roma Set a Steep Asking Price
Kone is a key figure under Gian Piero Gasperini, so Roma are reluctant to let him go cheaply. The report claims the Giallorossi would want €90-100 million, a sharp rise on the €50-60 million previously linked with him.
Why Chelsea May Need to Think Twice
That price looks inflated, and it may simply be a negotiating tactic to deter suitors. Bayern’s financial muscle and Champions League pedigree could give them an edge, but Chelsea’s need in midfield is arguably greater. A deal at the top of Roma’s range would be a major gamble for either club, and a lower fee would make far more sense.
