Chelsea has set their sights on Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia after failing to secure Manuel Ugarte.
The Blues had a strong interest in obtaining Ugarte from Sporting, but Paris Saint-Germain beat them to it.
Reports indicate that Lavia is now the primary target for Chelsea, and discussions with Southampton are expected to take place soon.
Despite the 19-year-old’s impressive debut season in the Premier League, the club faced relegation towards the end.
Lavia is anticipated to depart for a greater challenge, and Chelsea appears to be in the lead to secure his services.
Lavia’s current value is approximately £45 million, and Chelsea may explore a long-term payment arrangement to ensure compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations while making significant investments in the squad this summer.
In addition to Lavia, Chelsea are considering an approach to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion.
