Liverpool Eyeing Kalvin Phillips as Fabinho’s Potential Replacement

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips as a potential replacement for departing Fabinho. Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy mentioned Phillips as an option after Fabinho reached an agreement with Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.

Fabinho’s potential move to Saudi Arabia makes sense for the Merseyside outfit, given his age and recent form. However, it leaves a void at the defensive midfield position.

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is a prime target, but his price tag of £50 million is a concern. Another option is Manchester City’s Phillips, who joined last summer but has seen limited playing time.

Despite a disappointing season, Phillips possesses excellent passing and tactical awareness, as well as strong work rate and physicality. At 27, he’s slightly older than Liverpool’s typical signings, turning 28 in December.

The Citizens have been open to selling players, and it remains to be seen if they would consider selling Phillips to Liverpool.
