Liverpool Face Huge Fee to Sign Real Madrid Midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni
Liverpool’s admiration for Aurelien Tchouameni is well established, but prising the France international away from Real Madrid would be an expensive undertaking.

According to Football Insider, the Reds are still monitoring the midfielder as they weigh up their options in the centre of the park after an inconsistent start to the campaign. Los Blancos, however, have no appetite for selling and would reportedly demand a colossal fee for any serious approach.
Real Madrid Hold the Upper Hand
Tchouameni has become a key figure in Jose Mourinho’s plans at the Bernabeu, and his new contract has strengthened the Spanish giants’ negotiating position even further.
Since joining from AS Monaco in 2022, the Frenchman has made 199 appearances and scored 15 goals. He is comfortable as a holding midfielder or as a centre-back, which gives Madrid valuable tactical flexibility when injuries strike or a change of shape is required.
Why Liverpool Want Tchouameni
Liverpool have been searching for another dependable number six, with Ryan Gravenberch currently anchoring the midfield. A specialist alongside him would add competition and could allow Gravenberch to play further forward.
Interest may also have been reignited by Julian Ward’s return as sporting director. Ward tried to bring Tchouameni to Anfield during his first spell at the club, only for the player to choose Real Madrid instead.
January Spending Could Complicate Matters
The Merseyside club have spent heavily in recent windows, yet they may take a more measured approach in January as they look to reduce their outlay. Any bid for Tchouameni would need to be substantial, given his fresh deal and importance to Mourinho.
Our Opinion
Ward’s connection to the player makes this link easy to understand, and Tchouameni’s defensive versatility would suit Liverpool’s needs. Even so, it is hard to see Madrid entertaining an offer at a price the Reds would consider sensible. With a new contract signed and a manager who clearly values him, this looks more like a long-term ambition than a realistic January deal.
