Liverpool join race for Napoli’s Kim Min-jae?

Liverpool are reportedly ready to lock horns with Manchester United over the signature of Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae.

The 25-year-old joined Napoli from Fenerbahce last summer. Since then, the centre-back has become an integral part of Napoli’s team, making 35 appearances, contributing two goals and one assist.

He has started in 26 out of 27 league games this season, helping the Italian outfit secure a 19-point lead at the top of the league table.

There are reports that the South Korean has a £42m release clause in his contract, which could become active for a short period this summer, attracting interest from several clubs, including Manchester United. However, Liverpool have recently emerged as another potential suitor, according to Italian outlet Rai.

The Merseyside giants may consider offers for defender Joel Matip in the summer transfer window, while Newcastle United are said to be interested in Joe Gomez.

In the event of any defensive departures, Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp may look to strengthen the defence area, with Kim being a potential target.

There have been rumours that Partenopei could be willing to part with one of their star players, including Kim. However, the centre-back has dismissed such speculation, stating that he is focused on his current team and upcoming tournaments.
