Manchester City are reportedly rivalling Barcelona for the signature of Girona prospect Arnau Martinez.
The 19-year-old right-back has earned plenty of plaudits with his performances with the La Liga outfit since making his professional debut in December 2020.
He has already made 80 appearances for Girona in all competitions, including 42 during their successful 2021-22 promotion campaign from the second tier.
The Spaniard has since made 16 top flight appearances so far this season. His performances have not gone unnoticed by other teams across the continent including Barcelona and Manchester City.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have identified Martinez as a potential target and they have been keeping tabs on him for several months.
However, the report adds that the Blaugrana face competition from the Premier League champions for Martinez’s signature.
It remains to be seen whether Barca and Man City are keen to pursue a late move for the teenager before Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline or wait until the summer.
Martinez has a contract at Girona until 2025.
