Manchester United lead race to sign Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins is being linked with a potential move away from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, as Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United have emerged as rumoured suitors for the 27-year-old forward.

According to Fichajes, the Red Devis are looking to bring in a high-quality goal scorer at the end of the season and has identified Ollie Watkins as a potential target. However, the 20-time English champions will face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Since Unai Emery’s arrival, Watkins has been in impressive form, contributing 15 goals across all competitions. United are in need of a player like him to lead their frontline in the upcoming season, as they have been overly reliant on Marcus Rashford this season.

While Rashford has performed admirably, his primary position is on the left side of the attack. Therefore, Man United must consider allowing him to play in his preferred role for the national team and bring in a new centre-forward.

Watkins could prove to be a valuable addition. He is currently at the peak of his career and could quickly settle in and make an immediate impact. Meanwhile, United have already won the League Cup this season and are poised to return to the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United will be expected to compete for major trophies next season, and a top-quality striker could significantly enhance their attacking prowess. It will be intriguing to see if Aston Villa are willing to part ways with their prized asset and cash in on him during the upcoming transfer window.
