Tottenham Hotspur closing in on Pedro Porro

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly edged closer to completing the signing of Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is keen to reinforce his right-back ranks. As a result, the 23-year-old defender has supposedly been identified as Conte’s leading target, but the Primeira Liga giants have been reluctant to part ways with the Spaniard unless his €45m release clause is met.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur and Sporting are set for a fresh round of talks this week in the hopes of pushing through a deal.

Porro spent three years at Manchester City between 2019 and 2022, and the full-back left permanently in the summer without making a single appearance for the Citizens.

The youngster quickly established himself as a key player in Portugal. He has scored 12 goals and registered 20 assists in 97 appearances for Ruben Amorim’s side over the past two and a half years.

If the deal goes through, Porro could become Tottenham’s second signing of 2023 after the arrival of Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma on a season-long loan on Wednesday.
