Tottenham lining up move for Roger Ibanez

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on a deal for Roma defender Roger Ibanez, as reported by Forza Roma.

Spurs have expressed a strong interest in the Brazil international.

The Serie A outfit may consider selling the 24-year-old in the summer if they receive a substantial offer, as the defender has attracted attention from several top clubs due to his impressive performances in the Italian top flight.

Despite being a vital part of Jose Mourinho’s defensive strategy, Ibanez’s future at Roma is uncertain as the prospect of a move to the Premier League could be on the horizon.

Newcastle United have been monitoring Ibanez since last summer and may rekindle their interest in the Brazilian after the current season. Tottenham are also interested in him as the club looks to bolster their defence with significant reinforcements in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The final decision on Ibanez’s transfer will depend on Roma’s asking price, which could be around €45-50 million, considering his reported release clause of €80 million is unrealistic. The report suggests that Ibanez’s recent call-up to the Brazilian national team may increase his demand, making him a potential long-term option for Tottenham’s backline.

The North Londoners have concerns regarding their defence and are looking to sign players who can strengthen the team for the future.

In addition to Ibanez, Tottenham have been linked to other defenders such as Mohammed Salisu and Max Kilman, and they may explore options in the Italian market again, as they did successfully with the signing of Cristian Romero in the past.
