Twitter reacts as Martin Skrtel pens new Liverpool contract

Liverpool’s long-serving defender Martin Skrtel has signed a new contract to extend his stay further at Anfield.

The Slovakia international has established himself as a key figure in the Reds’ defence since joining the Merseyside club from Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2008.

The 30-year-old, who made 48 appearances for the Reds in all competitions last season, has committed his future to the club until 2018.

Skrtel becomes the 2nd centre-back to sign a new contract at this summer after Kolo Toure having agreed a 12-months extension.

Meanwhile some Reds supporters were delighted that one of the most experienced defenders is going to be sticking around for three-more seasons, but there are as many are less than happy with the extension.
