Barcelona join race to sign Josko Gvardiol?

Barcelona are reportedly among a few clubs looking to swoop for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also considering a move, but the two Premier League sides are now set to face competition from the Blaugrana.

According to Team Talk, Barcelona have identified Gvardiol as a replacement for Gerard Pique, who recently announced his retirement from professional football.

The report goes on to claim that the Catalan giants will monitor the Croatian’s progress at the World Cup in Qatar.

While Barca’s financial crisis could play a big part in a potential transfer, the Blaugrana are keen to begin negotiations next year, although there remain doubts whether the Spanish outfit are targeting a move for the January or summer transfer window.

Gvardiol, 21, is currently under contract with RB Leipzig until 2027.
