Why Chelsea should sign Radamel Falcao

Paul Merson, a football television pundit – wants Chelsea to sign Manchester United outcast Radamel Falcao on a permanent deal this summer.

The Colombian striker has struggled this season after joining the Red Devils on loan from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco last summer.

The 29-year-old has scored just 4 goals in 23 Premier League games this season and has not able to established himself to get regular spot in Louis van Gaal’s side first team.

There have been speculations that Falcao could be available on cheap this summer, and former Arsenal man Merson believes he could be an ideal fit for the West Londoners.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I think Chelsea would take Falcao at £15m – they need another centre forward as cover for Diego Costa.”

“He hasn’t really had a season; he has only been in and out. He needs to play 20 games and then I think he’ll be back to where was when, for me, he was one of the best centre forwards in world football.”

United were expected to offer permanent move to Falcao at the end of the season but his poor form has led the Red Devils to may not to keep the striker at the Old Trafford.
