Everton Eye Bold Move for Spurs Flyer Djed Spence
Everton are weighing up a summer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur‘s Djed Spence, according to The Athletic — and it could be exactly the injection of pace David Moyes’ backline has been crying out for.
The 25-year-old’s Spurs journey hasn’t been a straight line. Since arriving from Middlesbrough in 2022, Spence spent spells out on loan before finally nailing down a regular role. That patience paid off: he was a key figure as Tottenham lifted the Europa League last season, and his form even earned him a spot in England’s World Cup squad, where the Three Lions reached the quarter-finals.

Why Everton Are Circling
With Seamus Coleman gone as a free agent, right-back has been a problem position at Goodison Park for years. Moyes clearly wants that fixed — and Spence, valued around £26m by Transfermarkt, fits the profile: quick, physically strong, comfortable in the air, and equally at home building play from the back.
The catch? He’s contracted until 2029, meaning Spurs hold all the leverage. Everton will need a serious offer to prise him away.
The Backup Plan
Should that deal collapse, Everton have alternatives lined up — Arsenal‘s Ben White and Strasbourg’s Guela Doue. Neither is straightforward: Doue carries a hefty price tag, while White’s recent injury record raises questions.
One thing’s clear — Moyes isn’t stopping at midfield reinforcements like Hayden Hackney. The right side of defence, and a new striker, are next on the list.
