Liverpool keen on Victor Osimhen

Liverpool are reportedly planning a major summer transfer move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian international has had an outstanding season, winning the Serie A Golden Boot and helping the club secure their first Scudetto since the Diego Maradona era.

According to reports from Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are among the Premier League clubs interested in Osimhen. However, revamping the attack is not a top priority for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as they already have a strong roster of attacking players, including Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and recently signed Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.

While Osimhen’s talent is undeniable, Liverpool’s focus should be on strengthening other areas of the team. Additionally, Napoli are likely to demand a staggering €180 million or more for the frontman, which would significantly impact Liverpool’s summer transfer budget.

Although Klopp is said to be an admirer of Osimhen and discussions have taken place with the player’s entourage, it remains uncertain whether Liverpool would be willing to pay such a high fee. Furthermore, other factors such as the absence of UEFA Champions League football could affect Osimhen’s potential decision.

While Liverpool fans may find the news intriguing, it is important to approach it with caution. The club’s priorities lie in addressing more pressing areas of the team, and making a single marquee signing at the expense of overall squad balance may not be the most prudent move. While Osimhen may potentially move to another club this season, it would be surprising to see him end up at Liverpool without the lure of Champions League football.
