The Sky Blues were also keeping an eye on the former Manchester United winger at the time.
However, according to reports – Pep Guardiola is keen to re-build his team around Pogba and the incoming manager has instructed the City board to make signing Pogba a priority.
It is believed City are prepared to splash up £78m for Pogba’s signature and reward him with a lucrative contract that would see him paid £15 million per season.
