Ryan Bertrand wants to stay permanent at Southampton

Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand has revealed an interest in making his season-long loan move to Southampton permanent in the coming summer, reports Daily Echo.

The 25-year-old defender has established himself as one of the surprise packages after playing all nine of their Premier League outings this season and expressed his desire to stay at St Mary’s for permanent.

“It is one of them things where I’ve got to wait and see, but, for me, there’s no reason why not, to be honest,” the England international told Daily Echo.

“There is a good base to the club, we’re pulling in the right direction. We have fantastic fans, fantastic players, a fantastic manager and the coaching staff.

“It has been a good experience for me so far so I don’t see why not.”

Bertrand has been in excellent form since he arrived from Stamford Bridge in summer, scored one goal and provided one assists in nine league games.

Southampton are currently sit second in the league table, four points behind the group leaders Chelsea.
