The tough competition for Stoke against Newcastle

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is confident with his side when they face Newcastle United in the 34th week of Premier League action at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

The Potters were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Chelsea at last weekend, with Hughes have some doubt about his men’s performance.

Stoke, currently sit in 10th place, free from the relegation threat. However, the Potters have number of milestones that they could achieve before the end of the season, which would make one of their successful seasons in history.

It is understood that the Potters are keen to achieve first ever top-half finish in the Premier League, along with eight more points for their highest points tally ever, four more wins this season for most amount of victories plus nine more goals for to achieve the highest-scoring top-flight in their history.

However, Stoke doesn’t have a better home record than the top five clubs in the Premier League this term. They will be without Oussama Assaidi and Robert Huth with a knee injury, while the duo midfielders – Stephen Ireland and Charlie Adam are both injured and in doubt.

Victory on Saturday’s encounter would get them three points of Newcastle and could finish even higher than 10th place.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will keen to boost their form than league position this season. They have lost four of their last five games.

The Magpies have a poor record in away matches, they failed to score in five of their seven games.

Newcastle will be without Moussa Sissoko (hamstring), Loic Remy (calf) and Tim Krul with a knee injury.
