Tottenham have been monitoring Marco Asensio

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in securing the signature of Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio during the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Spurs are monitoring Asensio’s situation at the Spanish capital and plan to pursue him once the current season concludes.

Asensio’s contract with Los Blancos is set to expire this summer, and there have been no talks about a contract extension, making him a free agent. Consequently, many prominent English clubs are keeping an eye on him.

The 27-year-old made his debut for Madrid in 2016. While he initially had a great start with the club, frequent injuries resulted in reduced playing time.

Having played in 264 games for Real Madrid, the Spain international has scored 55 goals and registered 29 assists.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti appears to be indifferent about whether Asensio renews his contract or not, stating that he is content as long as the player performs well for the remainder of the season.

Numerous clubs are interested in acquiring Asensio, with Tottenham Hotspur being one of them. Despite having a variety of attacking options and signing Arnaut Danjuma during the winter transfer window, Spurs are interested in adding the Spaniard to their squad, particularly since Lucas Moura’s contract expires in the summer, and he has yet to sign an extension.

Asensio would make a great replacement for him, and coach Antonio Conte would welcome his addition.

However, several other clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United are also interested in the forward, making it challenging for Spurs to secure his services.
