Tottenham Hotspur frontrunners to sign Morato
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the pursuit to secure Brazilian defender Morato from Benfica in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old centre-back, who joined Benfica from Sao Paulo in 2019, has garnered attention for his performances, notably aiding in securing 10 clean sheets this season. Despite interest from Fulham and Nottingham Forest last summer, Benfica resisted offers, holding out for his €68 million release clause.

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou is keen to bolster his defence, and Morato emerges as a prime target.
However, the potential transfer faces uncertainty, as Benfica’s willingness to sell may hinge on the future of Morato’s defensive partner, Antonio Silva.
Silva’s potential departure to clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea, with a higher valuation, could impact Morato’s availability.
Therefore, Tottenham’s ability to secure Morato depends on whether any club meets Silva’s €100 million price tag. Despite the hurdles, Tottenham remains at the forefront of the race for Morato’s signature, aiming to reinforce their defensive line ahead of the new season.
