Chelsea to sign £70m attacker?

Chelsea have reportedly identified Thomas Muller as potential Diego Costa replacement in the Blues’ starting eleven next summer, with the former Atletico Madrid player is set to be replaced by one of a greatest players due to his poor form this season so far.

The Mirror reports that Costa’s future at the Stamford Bridge has almost been over after he was left on the bench in a 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

However, Muller’s services will be challenged by their arch rivals Manchester United who are among the favourites to secure him over the summer.

United manager Louis Van Gaal is a huge admirer of the German superstar, and had tabled a mega offer for the forward last summer to secure his signature. However, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stated that the 26-year-old German is not going anywhere in the coming future.

Meanwhile the west London club are also keeping a tab on Leicester hero Jamie Vardy, West Brom’s Saido Berahino and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann for the summer.

The Premier League strugglers currently find themselves at 14th in the league table following their draw against Spurs at White Hart Lane, but they need to prove in the upcoming games, especially a game against Porto next week, where a loss will see them drop into the Europa League.

Muller has scored 20 goals in 21 appearances for the Bundesliga champions this season.
