Noni Madueke Transfer News: Premier League Clubs Eye Arsenal Winger in January

Several Premier League clubs are reportedly preparing to challenge for Arsenal winger Noni Madueke should the Gunners sanction his exit in January, according to Football Insider. The 24-year-old has found opportunities scarce under Mikel Arteta, and his uncertain position at the Emirates Stadium is beginning to attract outside attention.

Why Madueke Is Struggling for Minutes

The England international has started just one of Arsenal’s last six competitive fixtures, although he did find the net in Tuesday’s 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town. He managed only 23 minutes off the bench across the opening four Premier League games and was subsequently omitted from the latest England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches.

It is a stark contrast to last season, when Madueke, signed from Chelsea in a £50m deal, contributed 12 goals and assists in 43 appearances and earned a place in England’s World Cup squad. This term, however, he has totalled only 176 minutes from five outings.

Competition in Arteta’s attack is fierce, and the emergence of 16-year-old Max Dowman has narrowed Madueke’s route into the starting XI even further.

Could Madueke Leave Arsenal in January?

Even so, his Premier League experience, pace and direct style mean suitors would not be hard to find if Arsenal decided to listen to offers.

There is no confirmation that the Gunners intend to sell, and Madueke remains very much an Arsenal player. His goal against Ipswich gives him a timely opportunity to show Arteta what he can offer before the transfer window reopens.

In our view, selling him would be a considerable gamble. Arsenal are keen to go deep in every competition, and a demanding schedule will test squad depth. A £50m player is rarely one a contender should let go cheaply. Still, regular first-team football matters to a 24-year-old with international ambitions, so his patience could run out if minutes do not improve soon.
