Manchester United are said to be on the verge of winning the race for Malo Gusto from Lyon against Chelsea.
The 19-year-old defender has been a regular starter at the Groupama Stadium this season, featuring in 15 of his 16 appearances in the top flight.
He has been widely recognised for his performances, with the Blues thought to be contemplating a move for the teenager.
Chelsea are thought to be preparing to submit a bid for Gusto, who is yet to score his first senior goal but has recorded six assists in 54 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit.
The Frenchman is rumoured to have already agreed to join the West London club, but Manchester United could also be in contention.
According to RMC Sport, United are trying to steal the deal from Chelsea and have advised the defender to take his time in choosing a team.
The question remains whether Erik ten Hag’s side will present an offer this month or wait until the summer.
While Manchester United are looking to add Gusto to their ranks, the right-back is also being considered by Newcastle United.
