Man United lining up move for Josko Gvardiol

Manchester United have reportedly identified RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol as a potential summer signing.

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, the Red Devils are showing interest in highly sought-after defender Josko Gvardiol, who has also caught the attention of Manchester City and Chelsea.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag has several decisions to make regarding his squad as he looks to strengthen his team for the upcoming season. One of the areas he needs to focus on improving is central defence, as he may not have full confidence in some of his current players.

In order to address this issue, Ten Hag is reportedly looking at a number of potential targets, with Napoli’s star performer Kim Min-jae being one of them. The South Korean has a release clause worth £43 million, which will be active for only two weeks in July, but there are several other clubs also vying for his signature.

Alternatively, the Mancunian giants could consider RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, who is also receiving attention from clubs in the Premier League and Spain.

The Croatia international has gained recognition for his outstanding performances with RB Leipzig over the past few seasons, as well as for his impressive display at the World Cup. As a result, there has been speculation about a potential move for the youngster, with a big transfer in the summer appearing likely.

Chelsea have been following the 21-year-old defender since last summer and are among the leading contenders for his signature, but the German club may demand a significant fee that could break the current British transfer record. Liverpool are also reportedly interested, but the financial implications may rule them out of the race entirely.

However, Man United could be well placed to compete for Gvardiol, given their financial power and the possibility of playing in the Champions League next season. This could give them an advantage over Chelsea and Liverpool, who may not qualify for the top European competition.
