Newcastle United have not given up hope of signing Lille centre-back Sven Botman in the near future, according to a report.
Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe was keen to bring the 21-year-old defender to St James’ Park in January to strengthen his side’s back line, but after several failed bids, the Magpies acquired the services of Dan Burn from Brighton & Hove Albion instead.
However, the Magpies remain hopeful of signing Botman according to the Daily Mail.
The report adds how the Dutchman is said to be in advanced talks over a move to AC Milan this summer, but the lure of the Premier League will be enough to persuade the centre-back to make the move to the Tyneside outfit.
Botman has made 79 appearances for Les Dogues across all competitions since joining the Ligue 1 outfit from Ajax in 2020.
