Tottenham Step Up Interest in Canadian Star Jonathan David
Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as serious contenders to sign Juventus striker Jonathan David this summer, according to Italian outlet Tuttojuve — and it’s a move that makes a lot of sense on paper.
The 26-year-old Canadian international arrived at Juventus last summer on a free transfer from Lille, where he had been nothing short of sensational. At the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, David racked up 52 goal contributions in just 83 appearances, helping Lille claim the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21 and the Trophée des Champions the following year.

However, life in Turin hasn’t gone to plan. David managed just eight goals and five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions last season — underwhelming numbers for a player of his calibre.
Yet anyone watching the 2026 World Cup will know he hasn’t lost his touch. His hat-trick in Canada’s stunning 6-0 demolition of Qatar was a reminder of exactly what he can do with the right service and system around him.
Why Juventus Aren’t the Right Fit
The issue isn’t David — it’s the system. Juventus’ reliance on Kenan Yildiz, Francisco Conceição, and Weston McKennie meant the team was always better suited to a target man, with Dusan Vlahovic taking priority whenever fit.
David’s game is built on intelligent runs in behind, which is why a move to Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs could unlock a completely different level.
Juventus are valuing him at £30 million, though Spurs will face competition from Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Lyon, and Lille.
At that price, David could be one of the summer’s smartest pieces of business.
